Of Aims, Actions & Achievements

When I was a kid, my dad would always ask each one of his children their New Year resolutions. I didn’t know the significance of the New Year resolutions back then. It is only until I got into University, I started to understand the importance of them.

New Year resolutions are like your goals. They keep you reminded of what you want to achieve at the end of the year. They would make you motivated because you know what you want to achieve and will try the hardest to achieve them. I have just made mine and I am very happy by it.

What kind of resolutions we can do? We can do resolutions on so many things like Reading, Writing, Cooking, Sports, Health, Fitness, Friends, Families, Religion, Finance, Music, Academic, Community and the list goes on. Design your resolutions that revolve around the categories. It can be as simple as this one.

Having New Year resolutions is an easy task. Problems come in when you do not hold on to your resolutions. The main issue here is consistency and perseverance.

How do you make sure that you are heading to your goals?

1. Write them on a piece of paper. Writing it down on a piece of a paper implies you have identified your goals. This would make you feel there is a sense of obligation and direction.

2. Post it somewhere you can see all the time like your personal billboard, labtop or even sticky notes.

3. Tell your friends about what you want to achieve. When you tell your friends, your friends can help you remind whether you have achieved your goals or not.

4. Do a monthly or quarterly check. This is like a self-assessment – are you doing what you say earlier? This is when you can assess whether you walk the talk or not.

5. At the end of the year, evaluate how many goals you have achieved. If you have, you should reward yourself because you have devoted your time, effort and money in ensuring you do what you say. It is not an easy thing to do. If you have not, reflect upon the year and identify what goes wrong along the year. Once identified, you need to make sure that you won’t do the same mistake for your next New Year resolutions.

That’s it so far. Here are some of my ideas on New Year resolutions.

Since Ed telah memberi motivasi kepada aku untuk mengemas kini blog ini, I will try to discipline myself to post more blogs in the future.

The "Bumbung Kuning" gang (the gang is referred to our friends who study in UiTM Permatang Pauh now and usually go to "Bumbung Kuning" for lunch) had its first meeting today. The attendance was quite good with the exception of Syakur and Slay (korang ingat lagi tak ha ha?).

So ada lah gosip2 sikit. Apakah cerita baru? Nantilah aku update balik ha ha.

To those who are sitting for their final exams, mid-sem exams or anything major,

This is some kind of social support that all of us need.

Often we feel pressured during this time but that is only a mental trick.

Remember that the rests of us are around for if you need a pair of listening ears.

Worse still, go play some sports or enjoy your favourite meals/deserts.

So, have a relaxed mind and healthy body! You are gonna need them!

Bodoh!

Hampir separuh batch kot dah fly nampaknya. Tinggal la muka-muka yang dulu kurang rajin belajar masa kat sekolah dulu, tinggal la kat Malaysia ni. Bukannya kerana tidak cemerlang, tapi sebab "malas". Malas ini punca sebenarnya. Kalau kita boleh ubah sikap tu, insyaAllah jalan yang terbentang luas yang telah disediakan oleh Allah untuk hambanya akan kita lihat dengan jelas.

Sebenarnya kita semua bodoh. Kenapa aku cakap kita semua bodoh. Ada sebab mengapa kita 'bodoh'. Kita masih mencari ilmu sebab itulah aku kata kita ini semua masih bodoh. Orang yang pandai cuma orang yang sudah habis belajar. Kita masih menuntut ilmu, mencari ilmu ke hulu ke hilir untuk apa? Untuk berjaya suatu hari nanti. Untuk apa? Untuk sara ibu dan ayah suatu hari nanti. Cuba kau bayangkan, mereka bekerja siang malam mencari nafkah, mencari sesuap nasi untuk anak-anak. Anak-anak pula menghancurkan hati mereka dengan fail subjek dan sebagainya. Aku tak mau menuding jari pada sesiapa, aku pun sama fail subjek. Belajarlah selagi mampu, menuntutlah ilmu selagi boleh, sedangkan Nabi Muhammad S.A.W bersabda, "Tuntutlah ilmu hingga ke negeri China". Mintak maaf jika bahasa yang aku gunakan ni kasar atau sebagainya. Kesedaran perlu ada pada diri masing-masing. Aku hanya insan yang lemah dan cuma berkata-kata sebagai peringatan kepada diri sendiri dan semua. Terpulanglah kepada setiap individu samada mahu menjadikan iktibar atau tidak. Semoga kita sama-sama berubah. InsyaAllah.

7 Januari

Menjalankan tanggungjawab di meja pengarang blog batch, hari ini, saat ini, sudah pasti seluruh warga MCKK Class of 2008 akan terkenang dan teringat akan memori lampau pada 7 Januari 2004. Hadir dari seluruh pelosok negara, dari Johor hingga ke Perlis, juga dari Borneo, semuanya datang duduk di bawah satu bumbung dan belajar mengenal erti persahabatan dan persaudaraan (Sorrylah, aku dah lama tak menulis, so bahasa ada formal sikit ha ha).

Ha ha kembali pada tone cerita yang lebih ceria, kita ingin mengucapkan selamat hari lahir kepada batch yang tercinta. Banyak kenangan manis dan pahit selama lima tahun hidup bersama. Sedar tak sedar, bila dah menginjak ke tahun 2011, kita semua dah jadi tua, bukan lagi remaja. Maka, tanggungjawab makin banyak, kerja semakin bertambah ( Ye lah, semua dah nak jadi 20 tahun dah pun).

Tahun ini juga, akan menyaksikan ramai yang akan menyambung pengajian ke luar negara. Bulan Februari saja, budak-budak ke Australia dan New Zealand akan menghabiskan pengajian ijazah. Maka, KLIA, nantikanlah kehadiran kami, budak-budak batch yang ceria (dan akhirnya sedih sebab kawan baik dah terbang).

Reunion Extravaganza 2011 (ha ha boleh tak aku cadangkan nama nieh untuk next reunion?) turut akan diadakan dalam bulan Februari. Seperti biasa, kita akan teruskan pecahan rekod dengan kehadiran yang semakin meningkat dari masa ke masa. Yang terakhir di Pelita KLCC dan yang terbaru adalah di …… (he he rahsia lah, tapi dipercayai akan diadakan di sebuah mahligai besar di negeri Selangor).

Akhir sekali, Happy Birthday to all! Selamat Ulang Tahun yang ke-8. Semoga batch kita terus cool dan selamba, tapi dipenuhi dengan manusia-manusia hebat dan berjaya J
